Katherine hated living with her mysterious grandfather. Ever since her Mum died her life changed completely and turned into a disastrous streak of miserable events. First, going to live with a man that she'd never met. Then, finding a spooky chest in the basement that nobody was allowed to touch. Katherine awoke.
"Another miserable day of yelling and screaming." she thought. Suddenly, she felt a stroke of relief as she remembered that her grandfather was away. Katherine decided to go and look in the chest in the basement. The stairs creaked, her heart pounded as she nervously opened the door. Foul winds pushed it wide open and there it was. The bronze chest stood in front of her. Katherine slowly walked forwards. She was sure something terrible would be inside, but when she lifted the lid, she was relieved. It was only a pair of old ballet shoes! Katherine was amazed that grandfather still cared about his dear wife. She was a dancer and left her ballet shoes to him in her will. Who would have thought a creepy old beast like him would treasure such special memories? Once her grandfather had returned home from a day fishing at the murky old beach, Katherine ran up and gave him a massive hug.
"What are you doing?" he questioned.
"Oh, well I looked in the chest, and I think you are really sweet."
